Week 3 Recap: Busy State League Weekend
The Under 16 Girls remain undefeated on the season with another State League win over Decatur. The Under 19 Boys tacked on another 2 victories. In addition, the U11 Boys continued their winning ways in Huntsville.
Goalkeeper training begins on Monday, August 31st. This year, we have a goalkeeper staff consisting of Jared Batte, Frank Oprandy, and Megan Rivera. Training times are as follows:
U12 and younger: Monday 5:30-6:30 (Batte/Oprandy) U13 and older: Monday 6:45-7:45 (Rivera/Oprandy)
Anyone interested in goalkeeper training is encouraged to attend these sessions. All goalkeeper training sessions are at the Soccer Complex on Wire Road.
Week 2 Recap: Thunder Road Classic
Three Auburn Thunder teams won their age group championships at the Thunder Road Classic this week. The U12 Girls, U12 Boys, and U16 Girls all took home the trophy with the other Thunder teams also doing well.
I want to congratulate all teams on a fabulous weekend of soccer in the Thunder Road Classic. The weather cooperated beautifully to make it a great kick-off to another Thunder season. I want to thank all parent volunteers for giving up even more of your weekend time to field marshal the games. A special thank you to our volunteer field marshal coordinator Clay Price.
A big congratulations goes to our three tournament champion teams: U12 Girls, U12 Boys, and U16 Girls. You all played amazing this weekend and truly earned your 1st place titles. Coaches of the teams are Craig Fargason (U12 Girls), Mary Puckett (U12 Girls), Dan Garber (U12 Boys), and Jill Adams (U16 Girls). I am proud of all Thunder teams for their hard work and effort on the playing field, we definitely made a statement as a club! Thank you again for all contributors to make another year of Thunder Road a success: Jay Wingo, Auburn Parks & Rec, ASA Board, and all thunder players and parents.

Week 1 Recap: Several Teams Have Good Start
Each week, a weekly recap will be included here so that it will be easy to follow all of the Auburn Thunder teams. This week, the Under 11 Boys (1-0) beat Huntsville 3-1. The Under 12 Boys(1-0) boys beat Huntsville 2-1. The Under 19 Boys (1-0) beat Mobile 3-1.
During the 2009 Thunder Road Classic any donations of soccer balls, bags, and uniforms will be gratefully accepted and collected at the Auburn Soccer Complex. All items collected will assist and unite 50,000 youth of Uganda, Africa through soccer. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. Make checks payable to St. Michael's Church for Uganda Project.
