The Auburn Thunder U11 Boys opened up their Spring 2010 League Play this weekend with a 1-1 tie against Homewood and a 3-2 win over the Capital City Streaks. In the Saturday game at Homewood, Auburn outshot the Patriots 14-9, but had to settle for a 1-1 tie after the teams swapped goals early in the 2nd half. On Sunday, the Thunder returned home and captured the 3-2 win over the Streaks. Eddie Naranjo scored directly on a corner kick in the 1st half and then Will Atkinson scored a goal and made an assist to Noah Culligan in the 2nd half to give the Thunder the final 3-2 margin. Matthew Kisor and Avery Atkins split the goalie duties on the day. The Thunder return to action on March 6th and 7th as they compete in the Silver bracket of the Vulcan Cup in Birmingham.
